Google has issued another urgent Chrome alert and ignoring it will put your browser at risk. The tech giant is urging Google Chome users to update their browsers, to exercise some vigilance and take caution amid a risk from scammers and cybercrooks.

Google said: "Google is aware that an exploit for CVE-2023-3079 exists in the wild." Anyone who uses this browser now needs to check that they have updated to 114.0.5735.106 for Mac and Linux and 114.0.5735.110 for Windows.

"Access to bug details and links may be kept restricted until a majority of users are updated with a fix. We will also retain restrictions if the bug exists in a third party library that other projects similarly depend on, but haven't yet fixed," Google said. "We would also like to thank all security researchers that worked with us during the development cycle to prevent security bugs from ever reaching the stable channel," the search engine added.

To check their browsers, Google Chome users need to open the browser on their laptops. At the top right, look at More More. If an update is pending, the icon will be coloured either green, for an update was released less than 2 days ago, or orange, for an update was released about 4 days ago.

Red means an update was released at least a week ago. To update your browser, open Chrome. At the top right, click More More. Click Help and then About Google Chrome.

Click Update Google Chrome. And it is important to bear in mind that if you can't find this button, you're on the latest version. Then, Google Chome users just need to click Relaunch and the job is done and they are up to date with the browsers, the tech giant adds in a helpful guide on its website.
